Community
The core mission of Architectural Record is to educate and inspire its audience. For its 116-year history, that role has been carried out exclusively by the magazine’s editors. But in a revolutionary shift, we are now empowering you—the many hundreds of thousands of architects and design aficionados who visit the site each month—with the tools to educate and inspire each other: to share photos, rate projects, comment on and recommend articles, create profiles, engage in discussions, and more. You’ll need to register to take full advantage of some of these tools—but this is fast, easy and free.

Do you have great photographs of projects—whether buildings of your own design or work by architects you admire? We invite you to share these images with our global audience in our Photo Galleries . Submit your photos (it’s fast and easy) in a number of categories, including: Residential Showcase, Student Showcase, Architectural Photographer Showcase, The World of Design, Product Showcase, and more. Also be sure to check out the hundreds of photos we’ve already selected. You can even comment on and recommend other community members’ photos.

Recent blog post: Off the Record

Off the Record, the blog written by the staff of Architectural Record, is where the magazine’s experienced, award-winning editors offer their opinionated takes on architecture-related trends, conferences, exhibitions, projects, and personalities. When they find a great (or grossly off-base) architecture article elsewhere online, they point you to it—and let you know what they think. Updated multiple times throughout the week, Off the Record is an absolute must-read: insightful, informal, influential.

AR Selects: Blogs
In addition to our own blog, the editors of Architectural Record handpick posts— witty, informative or just plain provocative—from some of the top architecture blogs in the world. Check out our News Blogs, Project Blogs, Product Blogs, Green Blogs, and Practice Blogs.

Sichuan Earthquake and the Chinese Response
At 14:28 on May 12, 2008, an earthquake registering 8.0 on the Richter scale pounded southwest China’s Sichuan Province. With its epicenter located in Wenchuan County, Aba Prefecture, the quake rocked office workers in Shanghai, approximately 1,000 miles away; was felt by more than 10 provinces; and affected many provinces and cities, including Sichuan, Gansu, Shaanxi, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hubei. The quake caused great casualties and inflicted severe damage to cities and towns.
