Now that New York’s legendary Four Seasons Restaurant has served its last supper, the elegant furniture and dinnerware that populated its two dining rooms are going their separate ways. An auction, held on-site at the restaurant by Chicago-based auction house Wright, will present more than six hundred items for purchase, including chairs by Mies van der Rohe, sofas by Philip Johnson, tables by Eero Saarinen, and a host of pots, saucers, and other silver designed by Garth and Ada Louise Huxtable. Starting bids range from $200 for the restaurant’s sausage grinder to $100,000 for a sofa made of nickels by artist Johnny Swing. The auction will take place July 26 after a five-day preview.
