University College Dublin (UCD), along with Malcolm Reading Consultants, revealed today the shortlisted proposals for its international Future Campus competition. The six firms that submitted designs are: Studio Libeskind, O’Donnell + Tuomey, UNStudio, and American firms Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Steven Holl Architects, and John Ronan Architects. The intent of the project, which includes the creation of an entrance precinct masterplan and concept designs for an 86,000-square-foot building called the Centre for Creative Design, is to reinvigorate the University’s vast urban campus and to increase the sense of arrival. The building alone is estimated to cost $60 million.
“This is an exciting, energizing moment for University College Dublin. We now have six possible futures for our campus center-stage, and all from acclaimed international teams, who are creating the most interesting and iconic architecture today,” said Andrew J. Deeks, the University’s president and competition jury chair.
