Architect Jeanne Gang has been named to the TIME 100: The Most Influential People of 2019 list. She was categorized as one of the “titans” of the year, continuing TIME’s trend, since 2016, of recognizing one architect on the annual list.
Gang founded her firm, Studio Gang in Chicago 1997. Now with offices in New York, San Francisco, and Paris, the practice is known for its focus on sustainability and for connecting projects to their contexts. Notable work includes the mixed-use Aqua Tower in Chicago (2010)—the tallest building designed by a woman; the WMS Boathouse at Clark Park in Chicago (2013); and Stone Stories, an installation for the U.S. Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale. Studio Gang also recently won the commission to design O’Hare International Airport’s $8.5-billion expansion.
