This is being felt perhaps more in building than any other industry. So, the article on achieving net-zero in residential design, (“In Pursuit of Zero”, Architectural Record, June 2021) is very timely and begins to recognize the urgency the topic demands. Baffling, then, is why choose projects that did not quite meet the criteria as examples? Excuses were given such as Covid-19 caused longer occupancy periods than designed for, etc. As the article states, there are 28,000 zero energy housing units listed with the Energy & Environmental Building Alliance from which fully compliant examples could have been gleaned that would also meet the visual and graphic standards commensurate with the magazine’s reputation. I know of several right here in the Hudson Valley. If you were doing an article on Pritzker Prize’ winners you would not illustrate it with almost winners.

 Post Comment
 Report Abusive Comment

');
