The National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) recently released their annual list of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places, which includes architectural, natural, and cultural sites the Trust deems "at risk of destruction or irreperable damage." Founded in 1949, the organizaion releases its yearly list as a kind of call to arms for the protection of historically significant sites across the nation.

In addition to the 11 sites included in this year's list, the NTHP has placed the city of Charleston, South Carolina under "Watch Status," citing increasing cruise ship tourism as a threat to the historic character of the southeastern city. Information about how to get involved with the National Trust, can be found at the organization's online home: preservationnation.org. Check out a full list of America's "Most Endangered Historic Places" below.
