Now that it's official, we can go back to asking why such important skills and areas of knowledge are so undervalued—both in a culture that is quick to value-engineer out design and in professions that exploit people willing to do creative work for little compensation. Here's to all the recent graduates with good ideas vying for a few low-paying internships: Thanks for doing something difficult, frequently unrewarded, but essential to everyone.
