The AIA announced today that it is joining forces with MIT's Center for Advanced Urbanism to conduct a major research study on the relationship between design and health in urban communities. This research, part of a new MIT program created last year, will be the basis for a set of health-conscious recommendations for architects working in rapidly-growing cities. Ultimately, the AIA says, the recommendations will be field tested in a to-be-determined city, with the hope that the lessons will be transferrable to other urban areas.
