Asia Design Forum, a nonprofit think tank that I help run with architect Ken Yeang, will present the fifth in its series of nomadic events in Beijing on July 5. Called Design Roulettes, these events bring together seven or eight "players" who make five-minute presentations and interview each other, one after the other. The Beijing Roulette will look at "Design and Time," a topic that should allow the players and two respondents to discuss the speed of work in Asia, history and memory in architecture, and the nature of our current period of time.

The seven players will be Mark Dytham (Klein-Dytham Architects, Tokyo) , Ma Yansong (MAD Architects, Beijing), curator Aric Chen (M+ Museum, Hong Kong), fashion designer Yeohlee Teng (New York), Liu Thai-Ker (RSP Architects, Planners & Engineers, Singapore), writer and festival curator Bernice Chauly (Kuala Lumpur), and Bryan Tarrant (Cheng Chung Design, Hong Kong). The two respondents will be Yung Ho Chang (Atelier FCJZ, Beijing) and Xu Tiantian (DnA_Design and Architecture, Beijing).

The event will take place at Studio-X, Beijing, A103, 46 Fangjia Hutong, Andingmen Inner Street, Dongcheng District and is being sponsored by Studio-X Beijing, Luxx Newhouse Group, LG Hausys, and Architectural Record. Admission is free, but you must rsvp at: adf.bj2013@yahoo.com
