NCARB recently announced a new Competency Standard, providing updates to the competencies required for initial licensure as an architect. This session will introduce professionals to the new competency model, explain the rationale behind the changes, and provide insight into how the licensure framework might evolve in the coming years.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the 16 new competencies for licensure, and why they were deemed necessary to ensure health safety and welfare protection of the public.
- Explain the workflow and process for identifying, defining and validating the new competencies.
- Explore how the newly defined competencies will be integrated into the licensure process in the coming years and what these changes might mean for the next generation of practitioners.
- Analyze how new elements within the Competency Standard will advance expectations regarding practitioners’ abilities for delivering public protection.
