Jennifer Bonner is the founder of MALL (Mass Architectural Loopty Loops), a creative design practice with focus on material experimentation, constructability, and conceptually driven ideas.
Born in Alabama, Bonner is a recipient of the 2021 United States Artists Fellowship and has been recognized with numerous honors including the Architectural League Prize for Young Architects + Designers, the Emerging Voices Award (AIA/Young Architects Forum), a Progressive Architecture (P/A) Award, and inclusion in Architect Magazine’s Next Progressives.
She is the co-editor of Blank: Speculations on CLT (with Hanif Kara), author of A Guide to the Dirty South: Atlanta, editor of Platform: Still Life, and guest editor of ART PAPERS’ special issue on the architecture and design of Los Angeles. Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues including the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the National Building Museum, Istanbul Modern, and the Chicago Architecture Biennial, as well as in galleries such as WUHO, HistoryMIAMI, Yve YANG, pinkcomma, Armstrong Gallery at Kent State, and the Yale Architecture Gallery.
Bonner holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University and a Master of Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design, where she was awarded the James Templeton Kelley Prize for her thesis Assemblage of Twins. Her undergraduate thesis, Cedar Pavilion, was built at Auburn’s Rural Studio in Perry County, Alabama and received the AR Award for Emerging Architecture (2005). She previously worked at Foster + Partners and David Chipperfield Architects in London and Istanbul. From 2015 to 2023, Bonner served as Associate Professor of Architecture and Director of the M.Arch II program at Harvard GSD. She has also held teaching appointments at Georgia Institute of Technology, Woodbury University, and Rice University.
