Designing for How We Live Now
As the desire to live in cities persists, so too has the boom in multiunit housing development, in Denver and across the country. But with this growth comes the risk of homogenization as some are priced out. This Record on the Road takes a look at housing that offers an alternative to the typical market rate model. Exploring solutions that contribute to the public realm or accommodate populations like seniors or those in need of supportive services, the symposium will highlight innovative multiunit solutions that address a range of specific needs.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe various strategies that multifamily housing projects employ to foster community.
- Discuss effective approaches for accommodating the particular needs of seniors, such as those related to mobility and wayfinding.
- Explain how support housing can effectively integrate specialized services into its programming.
- Discuss successful strategies that designers of institutional housing can apply to create a welcoming, residential environment.
This complimentary event is limited to architects, engineers and designers.
