Peterson Rich Office (Design Vanguard, 2018)
Miriam is a founding partner of Peterson Rich Office (Design Vanguard, 2018). Born and raised in New York City, Miriam draws inspiration from its rich urban context to create spaces that connect people to one another and to their surrounding communities. With a B.A. in Economics from Cornell University and a Master of Architecture from Yale University, Miriam brings an inquisitive and research-driven approach to each project, advocating for an expanded role for design at the intersection of architecture, economics, and policy.
For over a decade, Peterson Rich Office has developed an internationally recognized body of work across a diverse range of projects, from master planning proposals for the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to major institutional transformations, including most recently a project at The Metropolitan Museum of Art that will represent the museum’s first investment in the public realm in nearly 30 years. In addition to Architectural Record’s Design Vanguard, PRO received the AIA New Practices New York Prize in 2018. In 2020, the firm was selected as one of the Architecture League of New York’s Emerging Voices. Along with her partner, Nathan Rich, Miriam serves as the design lead on all the firm's projects.
