Speaker: Towards Absolute Zero Carbon: Going Beyond Net-Zero for a No-Emissions Future

Nico Kienzl is a founding director of Atelier Ten’s New York City office and a member of Atelier Ten’s U.S. and international leadership group. Nico advocates for decarbonization and net-zero strategies on his projects including the Obama Presidential Center, where ground source heat pumps and all-electric kitchen equipment avoid the use of fossil fuels. In Massachusetts, he’s consulted on the LEED Platinum Morris and Sophie Chang Building at MIT, the LEED Gold Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, the MIT Kendall Square Environmental Framework, and Harvard University’s Energy and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Assessment.

Nico received a Doctor of Design from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, a Master of Science in Building Technology from MIT, and a Diploma in Architecture from the Technical University of Munich.
