	Fixed metal panels will be hung from the building’s space frame. These will help control heat gain and glare and, depending on their location, will absorb or reflect sound. New 16- to 20-foot-tall interior travertine walls incorporating sound-dispersing battens will also be added.

	Johnson Fain’s renovation focuses on the cathedral’s interior. Except for sealing shut the building skin’s operable glass panels, the exterior appearance of the cathedral and its 237-foot-tall bell tower, will remain largely unchanged. The project does, however, include implementation of a landscape master plan devised by another Los Angeles design firm, Rios Clemente Hale Studios.
