
Jane Weinzapfel has been in the forefront of design for the public realm including education, transportation, and energy infrastructure design for over 40 years. Since she and Andrea Leers co-founded their Boston-based firm in 1982, Leers Weinzapfel Associates Architects’ work has been honored with over 200 major regional, national, and international design awards, including the AIA Firm Award. From the outset the firm has been recognized for inclusion and mentorship in its studio, and for its ongoing design for diverse communities. Weinzapfel notable projects include the MBTA Operation Control Center, UPENN Gateway Chilled Water Plant, UCONN Laurel and Oak Halls, MGH Paul S. Russell Museum of Medical History and Innovation, and the recent Harvard University District Energy Facility. Weinzapfel has taught design studios at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and at the University of Arizona. She is a past president of the AIA/Boston Society of Architects and served on the Board of Trustees of The Boston Architectural College.
