What attractions will line the midway in the carnivals of the future? When ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls step right up, what will they see, hear, and experience? These question and more will be answered by ten teams of high school students and industry professionals in the 2016 Iron Designer Challenge: Carnival Clash! The Iron Designer Challenge is a fund-raising event for the Urban Assembly School of Design and Constriction. Projects will be built in front of a live audience and judged by acclaimed architects, engineers and contractors at the School of Design and Construction on June 9, 2016. One team will emerge as New York’s 7th Iron Designer. Structural Ingenuity and Best Use of a “Secret Material” will also be awarded, as well as the audience’s People’s Choice Award. The event is open to the public, and guests will enjoy drinks, appetizers, music, and a chance to mingle with industry leaders, students, and participate in a silent auction that supports the nonprofit Urban Assembly School.
