SelgasCano, the Madrid-based firm known for its buildings wrapped in polychromatic plastic, today unveiled its design for this year’s Serpentine Pavilion in London. The temporary structure—a multicolored cocoon covered in plastic webbing—will employ ETFE, a fluorine-based membrane that the firm has used in a number of projects, including its El B Auditorium and Congress Hall in Cartagena, Spain. The pavilion, the gallery’s 15th, will be on the grounds of the Serpentine Gallery from June 25 to October 18 and host a number of live events.
Says curator Hans Ulrich Obrist, “We can’t wait to go inside to experience the light diffused through the colored panels like stained glass windows.”
