While satisfying the stringent requirements for a protected monument in Denmark, SeARCH architects has unabashedly reshaped a historic farm 25 miles north of Copenhagen.
Rendering Denmark’s second-largest city in 52 colors, artist Olafur Eliasson has perched his permanent installation “Your Rainbow Panorama” on delicate columns 12 feet above the roof of the ARoS Art Museum, in Aarhus.
“Humble” seems an unlikely word to associate with an architect who, at 36, has already built three inventive apartment complexes on his home turf of Copenhagen, has a high-profile commission for another in New York City, and is the darling of the design blogosphere.
In museum circles, curators and artists are well known for kvetching about architects who compete with the art on view by foisting major design statements onto willing clients.
