The simple, elegant volume and sturdy materials of this building, constructed in 1904 to serve the adjacent foundry, appealed to the owners of FFKR in their search for a new office location.

Restorations involving major changes in a building’s use typically challenge designers with either a lack or an excess of space, but in this case the four-story, 125,000-square-foot temple certainly sufficed.

The significant challenge facing the design team was transforming a dark 1917 library into this well-lit museum with gallery space for both permanent and traveling exhibitions.
