Along with the aesthetic benefits of glass entrances come unique challenges. This course covers current topics in glass entrance design and key considerations when selecting door hardware. Participants will receive an overview of specification criteria to ensure glass entrances and doors comply with safety, accessibility, and performance requirements while meeting the visual goals of the project.
Learning Objectives:
- Review glass door types and applications including all-glass doors, framed doors, balanced doors, and floating header entrance systems.
- Recognize NGA/GANA guidelines that help ensure glass doors are structurally sound and comply with industry standards.
- Evaluate key IBC, ADA, and UL code considerations related to accessibility, opening force, clear width, and panic devices.
- Examine market trends that are influencing the future of glass entrance design including larger glass sizes and energy codes.
