Chicago ' NeoCon

By Eileen Ragsdale
September 8, 2015
A first in NeoCon history placed Herman Miller’s Teneo as Best of Competition. A flexible filing/storage system, Teneo represents a trend toward clean, adaptable designs. Also on the rise: collaborative spaces, live/work collections, smaller footprints, natural finishes, and ecofriendly everything. - Eileen Ragsdale

As above, so below
An exercise in less is more resulted in the perfect balance between form and function exquisitely executed in stainless steel, glass and wood. Facet's base of four tapered spokes reaches from a slender column to the perimeter of either round or square tops in starfire glass or quilted maple. Only the glass top reveals upper spokes that perfectly mirror the base. Bernhardt Design, Lenoir, N.C. www.bernhardtdesign.com/

More than zero
Circles and squares make a bold statement for simple shapes. Soft and rigid lines merge neatly in a grid of concave circles on a square 20 cm x 20 cm glazed ceramic tile. These tactile surfaces make impressive wall installations in four strong glossy color options with coordinating insert tiles and accent strips. Zero collection is more than the sum of its tiles. Cedir Ceramiche di Romagna s.p.a, Castelbolognese (RA), Italy. www.cedir.it

Dream weaver
Fuse harmoniously weaves function, fashion, versatility and sustainability into a delightful collection of four coordinating textures and patterns. Each textile is constructed of 100% Eco-Intelligent polyester that remains in a closed-loop manufacturing system. The collection's gem is Wallflower with its simple blooming vine graphic meandering through a multi-purpose and reversible textile in not just seven but fourteen colorways. Luna Textiles, San Francisco. www.lunatextiles.com

Bottles bottles everywhere
These recycled glass panels are smashing! Lumicor turns crushed glass bottles into formable panels. Mixed Bottles is the newest of twelve color options and offers a mix of green, brown and clear bottle colors with fragments of labels still clinging to random shards. The glass component is 100% post-consumer recycled bottles encapsulated in R4 resins with a minimum of 30% recycled acrylic content. Lumicor Inc., Renton, Wash. www.lumicor.com

Made in the shade
Too hot and bright in your south facing guestroom? Draw the sheers and dim lights at the touch of a keypad or remote control. Stanza control systems provide total automated light control when Guestroom Drapery System's wall mounted double tracks with plug-in drive unit integrate with Guestroom Light Control System. "Welcome" and "Away" buttons are convenient - and energy saving - presets. Rest Easy. Lutron Electronics Co., Inc., Coopersburg, Penn. www.lutron.com
