Scott Specht, founder of Specht Novak Architects, joins the podcast to discuss the design of Austin’s Stealth House—an accessory dwelling unit with no exterior windows–and how this project can serve as a prototype for housing on non-traditional sites.
“The Stealth House is a very unusual house—sort of an inversion of a typical house but the real creativity and uniqueness of that comes in programming. A lot of what's considered ‘modern’ out there is stuff that's been done for 100 years. Like the typical suburban house, to me, does not work and never has. That's why we went and experimented with the Stealth House, because it's really trying to do something different for the suburban American landscape.”
