After the Flood: Building on Higher Ground, an exhibition RECORD conceived and organized for the U.S. Pavilion at the 2006 Venice Architectural Biennale, will be on display until June 27 at the Museum of Art and Design in Los Angeles. Presented by the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the exhibition—which made stops in Bangkok and Panama in 2007—was expanded for its final venue by RECORD’s curator, Christian Ditlev Bruun, with the help of Anthony Fontenot.

After the Flood was based on a competition RECORD organized with Tulane University in early 2006 to offer ideas for housing as a response to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Schemes selected included designs by Anderson Anderson Architecture, Eight Inc., and Workshop/apd.

Bruun enlarged the L.A. exhibition by including house prototypes for New Orleans executed by architects such as Morphosis and Pugh + Scarpa for the Make It Right foundation established by Brad Pitt. Another section in this updated show includes urban and civic schemes for New Orleans by dArchitects/Gansstudio, Eskew + Dumez + Ripple, among others.
