The non-profit organization Kids of Kathmandu, founded by Brooklyn-based furniture maker Andrew Raible and his wife, photographer Jami Saunders, intends to use photography, art, and design to raise awareness and funds for orphaned children in Nepal. For the couple’s first initiative, The Desk Project, they reached out to established New York architects, designers, artists, and woodworkers to design and fabricate a child's desk to be auctioned off with the proceeds going towards the health and education of orphaned Nepalese children. In response, they've received children desk designs from 11 firms including  MADE LLC, Wadaly, and Uhuru Design. A fundraising event in New York is planned for Thursday May 12.
