Corian Sculptures "Light up Atlanta"
June 24, 2011
If you've passed through a MARTA station in Atlanta in the past few weeks, you may have spotted one of the seven backlit DuPont Corian sculptures that are part of the temporary "Light up Atlanta" exhibition. Commissioned by local building products distributor C.H. Briggs, the exhibit showcases the work of Atlanta-based designers. While the exhibit is currently scheduled to stay up until July 7th, a representative from DuPont says it may get an extension due to its popularity. I am partial to the pieces that also serve as benches — I like it when art is also functional. Check them out if you find yourself commuting in Atlanta this summer.

"Seating Bench 01" at Arts Center station by Tae Jun Park.
Hot-Lanta Fan at Five Points station by Ted Freeman.
Seed Bench at Peachtree Center station by Kellen Minor.
