PhiusCon, the leading passive building conference for climate-specific zero energy design, construction and building science, returns to Chicago for its 16th year this October 25-28, 2022. Hosted by Phius (Passive House Institute US), a non-profit organization delivering what is quickly becoming the de facto industry standard for high-performance zero-energy building. The conference brings together building science experts, manufacturers and attendees who all seek to learn about and reduce the impact of buildings as a contributing factor to climate change by:
- Demonstrating affordable, sustainable building techniques, technologies, materials and projects
- Celebrating ingenuity in building, construction, energy, engineering and housing industries
- Educating professionals on how to build comfortable, healthy, safe, cost-efficient buildings for a more resilient world
The event welcomes everyone interested in learning how buildings and homes are a path to mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change. Register today at www.phius.org/phiuscon.
This year’s conference focuses on the “path to net-zero,” introducing new features such as a Bridge Track for those new to passive building and a slate of “Mini Keynote Addresses'' from top thought leaders in the industry on topics such as using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) towards carbon neutral, cost-neutral high-rise affordable housing, retrofits in place, electrification of systems and passive building science, as well as a tour of notable Phius projects in Chicagoland (tour tickets sold separately). PhiusCon will also host its eighth annual Phius Design Competition, displaying the most innovative, high-performance Phius-certified projects.
Additionally, a large exhibit hall brimming with state-of-the-art technologies and systems from leading manufacturers in the high-performance building industry, relevant for passive and zero-energy building, will be on-site for exploration and learning. Open during the show, the Exhibit Hall will also be open to the public for preview the night before the conference (October 26 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm) at no cost, providing a unique opportunity for those interested in exploring more about Phius and passive building. Attendees can also earn continuing education credit through AIA and Phius Professional CEUs.
