Letters to the Editor: James A. Gresham, FAIA
“Pleased”, barely describes my reaction to Michael Speaks article “After Theory” in the June Record. An architectural “theory” is woefully outclassed by those in physics or chemistry. But I am mostly concerned that being “cool” and “engaged” will soon become discarded theories in a changing world. Speaks’ views would resonate more forcibly had he ratcheted up his thinking and viewed architecture as a craft, which it is, rather than an art form struggling to find an academic home.
