Location: Viento Sur, Paracas, Peru
Site size: 5,300 square feet
Project size: 2,800 square feet
Solution: This house is located in a housing development near a rugged, expansive nature reserve in the small coastal town of Paracas. The house is composed of two dwelling units; the main one, in a cubiform block, is two stories high, where a master bedroom on the second floor has a panoramic view of the Paracas Bay. An additional dwelling unit occupies a one-story wing at the rear.
Construction and materials: The architects used an exposed concrete structure alternating with concrete blocks outside and inside the house to resist strong winds and reflect the desert surroundings. Recycled timber clads the ceiling, floor, and walls of the entrance.
