In the second week of June, tens of thousands of design professionals descended upon Chicago for the annual NeoCon show, hosted by The Mart. The three-day event is an opportunity to trawl the many dozens of showrooms within the gargantuan structure and visit hundreds of pop-up vendor booths. Attendees needing a break from the packed trade floors could also attend numerous talks, workshops, and tours around the Windy City. The show trained a spotlight on some of the latest innovations in office and other commercial products, including seating, surfacing, acoustic paneling, privacy pods, and more. Here are some of RECORD’s highlights.

Wood Textures

Turf Wood Panels

Turf’s new acoustic-paneling collection is designed to resemble a variety of wood-veneer cuts. The patterns, titled Rift, Rotary (pictured), and Flat, are printed onto a thin layer of PET felt (composed of at least 60% pre-consumer recycled content). Each pattern is available in 32 colors, shades, and tones from Turf’s preexisting Hues palette.

Renaturation

Renaturation Wallcovering

Introducing biophilia into commercial spaces can take many forms. One of them is a wallcovering developed by Momentum and 13&9 Design, and specialist Dr. Richard Taylor, that uses a fractal-based approach to bring evocations of nature to the indoors. The PVC-free wallcovering is available in three patterns, Fractal Bark (pictured), Moss, and River.
