Announcing the Winners of the 2025 Architectural Record Awards

The announcement of the project awards—the winners include everything from a modular supportive housing complex in Los Angeles, to a wheel-shaped Mexican winery constructed from sand-colored concrete, to a domed mass-timber theater—follow last month’s announcement of those recognized in the award program’s three individual distinctions: MIT’s Caitlin Mueller as Innovator of the Year; Carlos Cerezo Davila, global director of sustainability at KPF, as Rising Professional; and Architect of RECORD Tom Phifer, who is celebrated for a lifetime of achievement in the profession and exceptional work published in the pages of the magazine.
“I’m up here today standing on the shoulders of others,” said Phifer when accepting his award last night in an auditorium filled with his friends, colleagues, and fellow design professionals. “I absolutely love being an architect. I love working with clients and consultants. And I love nothing more than working with my remarkable team—these are the folks that make it happen.”
Each of this year’s winning projects, selected by a jury of editors and distinguished guests, are showcased in the November issue of Architectural Record, alongside nine total honorable mentions. They will also be published throughout the month on the magazine’s website and across our social media channels. Among the winners, in the Office & Workplace category, is Barozzi Veiga’s striking new headquarters for alpine sports company Dynafit located on the German-Austrian border. It was subsequently singled out by the editors as Building of the Year. While numerous North American projects are recognized, other winners, much like our Building of the Year, can be found farther afield, including in Rwanda, Albania, Morocco, China, and Spain’s Basque country.
