The relocated master suite of this existing Japanese-style home was updated with a warm spa-like quality and adjacent master bath, deliberately left open to the bedroom. The architects, working with the contractor, customized the small 8- x 15-foot bath with a shallow teak vanity that holds two sinks yet allows for passage between it and the teak-floored walk-in shower. The main floor was done in a pebble stone tile. The tub, surrounded by an overspill trough filled with black stones and built-in to a teak shelving system, looks out at the ponds and landscape. The result: an efficient layout with ample storage and functionality distinguished by a masterful level of detail.
