The development of glassfibre reinforced concrete was inspired by Rieder's vision of a concrete cladding panel that is both stable and lightweight. The aesthetic panels with only 13 mm thickness in various colours, surfaces and shapes give architects plenty of scope in the design of individual facades. Glassfibre reinforced concrete is non-combustible an made of mineral-based raw materials, giving the panels their unique characteristics.

These rain screen facade panels exist to cover buildings like a skin made of extruded concrete – opening entirely new possibilities for modern ventilated wall designs with long-term durability.

R2R – “Render to Realisation” – describes Rieder’s integrative approach for developing a holistic solution for building envelopes and includes optional services like facade optimisation, fastening methods and mock-ups.

This course presents the advantages and high performance of Rieder's glassfibre reinforced concrete cladding. The different products, various design possibilities, solutions and sustainable facts will be discussed.

Frank Wagenbauer is a qualified Austrian sales director, who restructured sales teams and improved overall sales in various European companies. He joined Rieder in 2017 and is responsible for project management and first class customer experiences all over the world. As a graduate of the Vienna University of Economics, Frank Wagenbauer lives with his family in Vienna.

JR Hughes has been working for "Hughes Group" as an independent manufacturer's agent since 1998. He heads up the exterior facade's division for the Midwest Territory. In 2014 he Co- founded "Centerline Architectural Supply". A complete fabrication and distribution company for Rain-Screen Systems.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the advantages and performance of GFRC and rainscreen systems and how the material contributes to the safety of buildings.
  2. Explain sustainable facts about GFRC facades and rainscreen systems and show how they contribute to the energy revolution and environmental protection.
  3. Explain the importance of proper design, numerous possibilities and holistic solutions for building envelopes.
  4. Present different GFRC products, new colours, textures and product innovations.
