New Systems for Managing Indoor Environments

MVR-SC Controller
To improve its solutions for preventing refrigerant leaks in air-conditioning and heat-pump systems, manufacturer Bacharach engineered a controller that centralizes alerts of multiple detectors in one unit. The system, MVR-SC, continuously monitors up to 100 devices, keeps a log of the 100 most recent events, such as alarms, faults, and lost connections, and sounds an alert if individual units become disconnected from the network.

Omni
Awair, an indoor air-quality monitoring system, which tracks VOCs said to trigger headaches, asthma, and eczema, has been updated with sensors that detect changes in light and noise. The additional data collected on noise decibels, room temperature, and the quality of light enable managers to control factors believed to affect building occupants’ health and productivity and earned Omni a certification from RESET, a third-party issuer of healthy-building standards.

Utility LAN Solution
To help building managers supervise the increasingly broad range of devices being added to local area networks (LAN), two tech companies partnered with Cree Lighting on updates of its SmartCast Intelligence Platform of controls, sensors, and data collecting. The Cree network now features Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) switch technology from Transition Networks, and high-quality cables and connectivity by Berk-Tek. Both updates enable convenient integration of existing building-management functions such as HVAC control and fire detection, and the addition of new systems.

ThermaSol Digital Shower
A new interface integrates control of ThermaSol’s lighting and audio features with those of its shower fittings. Installing ThermaSol Digital Shower and ThermaTouch LCD (in a 7" or 10" screen) provides access to a menu of audio and lighting modes and 20 apps that stream content. SignaTouch, a 5" LCD, works with the interface to activate chromatherapy in the Serenity Light and Sound Rainhead, and SteamVection steamheads can be programmed to emit steam at a uniform floor-to-ceiling temperature.

City Multi N-Generation
Engineered for more efficient heating and cooling than earlier models, the City Multi N-Generation outdoor unit by Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC features a 30% smaller housing; updated designs for its heat exchanger, compressor, and fan; the capability to connect 11 subcontrollers, and easy access to five days’ worth of operational data for maintenance and troubleshooting.
