SHoP Architects founding principal Gregg Pasquarelli joins the podcast to discuss the importance of architect-client relationships, the development of The Brooklyn Tower, and how the firm tried to capture the essence of New York with its residential supertall at 111 West 57th Street.

“The thing we kept saying with 111 West 57th Street was that the building had to feel like it’s from New York—but how do we do it without being nostalgic or retro? When you look at it, you know it’s in New York. If it was a building that you could swap out to London or Singapore it wouldn’t work. I think 111 and The Brooklyn Tower, but especially 111, do that.”
