Guess the Architect: December 2025

A monthly contest from the editors of RECORD asks you to guess the architect for a work of historical importance.
Clue: Nearly four centuries after its completion, this small but period-defining church remains as strange and inscrutable as ever. The work of a famously mercurial architect, it is best known for its intricate curvilinear geometries, which manifest in its soaring oval dome and undulating facade.
By entering, you have a chance to win a $500 Visa gift card. Deadline to enter is the last day of each month at 5:00pm EST.
Last month's answer: The Xiangshan Campus of the China Academy of Art was designed by Amateur Architecture Studio, led by Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu. Consisting of 20 buildings completed between 2004 and 2007, the campus mixes a variety of elemental forms, and incorporates numerous found materials—including millions of tiles salvaged from the demolition of traditional houses.
