“The concept of the [Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art’s] first phase, which was creating a loop in the stream itself, dictated the expansion. So, we added another loop, except that the space created was not just a pond but a partial combination of the pond with water continuing downstream, an event space, and a garden with sculptures. That new space is different in character to the ponds above, but it's a natural continuum. I'm proud of that intervention because it sets a nice counterpoint to the very intimate, woodsy galleries as something quite different and refreshing. And I think that is where the next phase extends Crystal Bridges into a series of more varied experiences.”
