Ben van Berkel and Frans van Vuure of Dutch firm UNS join Architectural Record’s DESIGN:ED podcast to discuss the just-completed renovation of the Jewish Museum of New York, the opening of the studio's first U.S. office in Austin, and the value of architecture in 2026.
“We are becoming more human-centric in the way how we look at architecture—the way in which you experience the architecture is important. But don't forget, it's also very difficult to formulate. What is the experience of architecture? What is it exactly that you give to people, where they say, ‘yeah, I'd like to come back to this project.’ And in our case, it’s often related to doing deep research on health and the way how people feel better in an environment. People get incredibly stressed in the built environment, and we think that it is not researched enough.”
