Stark Expo 2010 - A Comic Book Movie Update of Flushing Meadows Park
April 5, 2010
I wasn’t planning on seeing Iron Man 2 in theaters (I’m no movie snob, I just have a 2 year old and don’t get out much) but when I stumbled across this promotional web site for the movie I was intrigued to check it out. The site www.starkexpo2010.com is a mock home page for an upcoming “Worlds Fair” called Stark Expo that opens on the fairgrounds of Flushing Meadows, N.Y. on May 7th (the day the movie opens, not coincidentally). The site includes renderings of what the expo will look like, including the New York State Pavilion and the iconic Unisphere. On the bottom of the page you can even view a plan of the grounds from 360 degrees- showcasing all of the sponsored pavilions. As someone who grew up five minutes from the park, I was excited to see it interpreted into a modern fairground with zoomy architectural pavilions. Below are a few renderings from the “expo” slideshow. If you are working on a pavilion project perhaps you can write off the price of the movie ticket as a work expense?
