According to the New York Times, two major donors to the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park (RECORD, October 2012) on Roosevelt Island are suing the park's sponsors in State Supreme Court because they say a promise to engrave their names close to the memorial bust has not been honored.
The park is scheduled to be dedicated tomorrow, but one of the donors, the Alphawood Foundation, is reportedly making its case in court today to delay the ceremony until the names are in place.
Louis I. Kahn designed the park before his death in 1974. After many failed attempts to kick-start the project, construction finally began in March 2010. Read our story by RECORD Managing Editor Beth Broome.
