Two separate honors bestowed by the College of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology will recognize built works in North, South, and Central America completed in 2022–2023. 

The jury praised the Yokohama-based architect for “reminding us that in architecture, as in democracy, spaces must be created by the resolve of the people.”

Completed in 1942, the National Historic Landmark–designated site in Columbus, Indiana, is considered one of the first Modernist churches in the U.S.

The painstaking Argentinian conservation project will be recognized at a February 27 event in Manhattan that also honors the life of the late Jean-Louis Cohen. 

Construction on the five-story Orientalist art museum on Al Maha Island is set to commence later this year. 

This year’s awardees include practitioners based in Ontario, Alabama, and Guadalajara.
