Beth Broome joined Architectural Record as managing editor in 2004 after a number of years working in newspapers, most recently as managing editor of The New York Observer. Beyond architecture, she has written on a variety of subjects, including finance, food, and society and culture. In her current position, she oversees the day-to-day operations, planning, and production of the magazine and edits and writes on a range of projects. Originally from the Boston area, she is a graduate of Tufts University.
Alex is the associate editor at Architectural Record. Prior to joining the magazine, she worked in marketing and communications for New York-based architecture firms. Her writing has appeared in the Architect’s Newspaper and CityLab. Alex holds a master’s degree in design criticism from the School of Visual Arts and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.
Linda Lentz is a senior editor at Architectural Record, responsible for the Record Interiors issue, the monthly interiors page, the quarterly lighting sections, and such special issue sections as Schools of the 21st Century and Good Design is Good Business. She joined RECORD in 2008. Previously, the Brooklyn native worked as a freelance writer and editor covering design, materials, and products for numerous design and shelter publications—including Interior Design, Metropolitan Home, Robb Report, This Old House, and Building Products, in addition to RECORD, and its spin-off, My House. This followed 10 years as Articles Editor at Home Magazine. She holds an M.A. from NYU and a B.F.A. from Pratt Institute.
Cathleen McGuigan is editor-in-chief of Architectural Record. She is responsible for leading the award-winning editorial team to deliver thorough coverage of news, projects, and practice issues to architects, design professionals, and building product manufacturers. Her broad experience as an editor, journalist, and critic provides strong leadership for this integrated print and digital portfolio, as well as strikingly relevant professional and cultural content for readers across the globe. Cathleen joined RECORD in 2011. Previously an architecture critic and arts editor at Newsweek, she has more than three decades of cultural journalism experience. Cathleen’s work has also been published in The New York Times Magazine, Smithsonian, Harper’s Bazaar, and Rolling Stone. A Michigan native, she serves on several design juries and is a former adjunct professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Miriam Sitz is the senior news and web editor for Architectural Record. She runs the news section, both in print and online; oversees RECORD's website and digital presence; and writes for the magazine and the web. A native Texan, she previously worked for daily and alt-weekly news publications in San Antonio. She holds a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree from Trinity University.
Suzanne Stephens, a deputy editor of Architectural Record, has been a writer, editor, and critic in the field of architecture for several decades. She has a Ph.D. in architectural history from Cornell University, and teaches a seminar in the history of architectural criticism in the architecture program of Barnard and Columbia colleges.
