“With each project, we're searching for the one singular opportunity and then looking to engage that opportunity in architectural terms. This lies at the confluence of the client, the program, and the context—and the context has many dimensions. With Lantern House, the brief was to create something that was almost the antithesis of a house and not intended to be at all immediately legible as a domestic space. In fact, the references that we were looking at the start of the process were art galleries, spaces for listening to music, and spaces for contemplation. And so, the domestic program was overlaid into a rich program of atmosphere and experience.”
